Dr. Bamidele S. Oyetunde
Dr. Bamidele Oyetunde is the Director of Science. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics degree from University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile- Ife. He obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and M.Sc. Mathematics from University of Benin, Benin City. He further proceeded to the same University of Benin to obtain his Ph.D. Mathematics in 2007. He was a mathematics lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State (1988 – 1991). He joined the services of the Petroleum Training Institute in October 1991 as a mathematics lecturer.
Dr. Bamidele Oyetunde is an accomplished mathematician who has contributed immensely to the advancement of knowledge through publications in renowned journals. He is an author to some mathematics books. Among them are: Introduction to Logic and Algebra; Fundamentals of Pure Mathematics; Hints, Problems and Solutions in Advanced Calculus etc.
His areas of interest are in Mathematical Logic, Differential Equations and Nonlinear Wave Theories in Physical Oceanography. He was once a visiting researcher in the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He was equally at the Institute of Oceanography, University of Delaware, Newark, USA for research activities in Oceanography.
As an applied mathematician, he was at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa for scientific program sponsored by the CIMPA- UNESCO- MICINN on Modelling and Simulation in Population Biology. He was equally at Gurgaon, New Delhi, India & at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland for different training programs under the sponsorship of PTDF. He had the opportunities of attending various courses/workshops/conferences in USA, United Arab Emirates, Ghana & Tanzania among others in addition to local conferences & trainings within Nigeria.
Dr Bamidele Oyetunde was given an award in the University of Benin as the best in the MBA entrance examination in 1995 and equally won the Best Lecturer award in 2005 at the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun.
On his career path in the Institute, he was the Head, Computer Centre (1996 -2017), Head, ICT Unit (2010 – 2016); Head, Department of General Studies (2016 – 2019) and Director of Research & Development (2019 – March, 2022).
He belongs to various professional bodies. Among them are: Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN), Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigeria Mathematical Society (NMS) etc.
