LIST OF AVAILABLE NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES AND THEIR ENTRY REQUIREMENT


Growth and development

A good  number of these programmes have been repackaged to meet the new challenges of the industry.  In all a total of 24 programmes covering the entire spectrum  are available for you to take advantage of. The Institute has a supportive environment which creates an enabling learning atmosphere. A crop of seasoned  lecturers and instructors with wide and varied experience in Oil and Gas Industry are on ground to take students through the various courses. All training  programmes are conducted in a safe and conducive atmosphere using state of the art facilities.  The Institute since inception,  has turned out many technologists, technicians and other technical personnel trained  in diverse field  relevant to the oil and gas industry.


  1. GCE O/Level, WASC or SSCE (WAEC or NECO) with credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings, which should include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any one of the following Science Subjects, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Electricity and Metal Work, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
  2. National Technical Certificate relevant to the Diploma programme of the application with a credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other related subject
  3. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Mechanical Engineering Practice or Metal Work and any other Science or Social Science subject plus a pass in English Language. (ND-Mechanical Engineering Programme only).
  4. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any two Electrical subjects National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry and any oe Electrical subject plus at least a pass in English Language. (ND – Electrical /Electronic Engineering Technology programme only).

In addition to (i), (ii), and (iii) above, candidate should pass the trade component/subjects relevant to the programme.

  • Mineral and Petroleum Resources Engineering.
  • Petroleum Engineering.
  1. GCE O/Level, WASC or SSCE (WAEC or NECO) with credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings, which should include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any one of the following Science Subjects, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Electricity and Metal Work, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
  2. National Technical Certificate relevant to the Diploma programme of the application with a credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other related subject
  3. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Mechanical Engineering Practice or Metal Work and any other Science or Social Science subject plus a pass in English Language. (ND-Mechanical Engineering Programme only).
  4. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any two Electrical subjects National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry and any oe Electrical subject plus at Crdeit pass in English Language

In addition to (i), (ii), and (iii) above, candidate should pass the trade component/subjects relevant to the programme.

  1. GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in five (5) subject at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and any two subjects from the following; Physics, Biology, or Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Wood Work and Metal Work, In addition, candidates must possess at least pass grade in Physics, Biology and English Language.
  2. National Technical Certificate in Chemistry Laboratory Technology/Industrial Safety
  1. GCE O/Level, WASC or SSCE (WAEC or NECO) with credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings, which should include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any one of the following Science Subjects, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Electricity and Metal Work, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
  2. National Technical Certificate relevant to the Diploma programme of the application with a credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other related subject
  3. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in four (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Mechanical Engineering Practice or Metal Work and any other Science or Social Science subject plus a pass in English Language. (ND-Mechanical Engineering Programme only).
  4. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any two Electrical subjects National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry and any oe Electrical subject plus at least a pass in English Language. (ND – Electrical /Electronic Engineering Technology programme only).

  2. National Technical Certificate (NTC) Examination in Welding and Fabrication Craft Practice with credit passes in Mathematics, Welding Technology, Welding and Fabrication Practices, Technical Drawing or Integrated Science and at least a pass in English Language.
  3. National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) with credit passes in five (5) subjects which should include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Physics, Welding Practice, and any other Science or Social Science subject
  1. GCE O/Level, WASC or SSCE (WAEC or NECO) with credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings, which should include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any one of the following Science Subjects, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Electricity and Metal Work, Plus at least a pass in English Language or
  2. National Technical Certificate relevant to the Diploma programme of the application with a credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other related subject
  3. (ND – Electrical /Electronic Engineering Technology programme only).

  1. GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in five (5) subject which must include English Language, Mathematics and any two of the following subject such as Economics, Business Methods, Commerce, History, Religious Knowledge, Accounting, Geography, Statistics and Government. At least a pass in Chemistry is compulsory.
  2. National Business Certificate of NABTEB with credit passes in relevant subject. A Credit pass in Chemistry is compulsory.
  1. GCE O/Level, WASC, SSCE (WAEC or NECO) Credit passes in five (5) subject at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and any two subjects from the following; Physics, Biology, or Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Wood Work and Metal Work, In addition, candidates must possess at least pass grade in Physics, Biology and English Language.
